SDR, Satellite Image Processing Technology from Varuna Land Monitoring Service
Varuna Land Monitoring Service (VLMS) provides data processing service from high resolution satellite image size of 10x10 meters and 20x20 meters for agricultural industry, natural resource assessment survey and data analyzing in various formats to support business decisions.
The main problems in using satellite imagery are the cloud cover in the area to be studied and the limitation of accessing satellite data from service sources. This causes failure in spatial analysis at the specified interval time due to lack of data to analyze at that period.
Varuna aims to develop a VLMS system to meet the specific needs of each customer segment. The data will be designed at various levels so that users can determine to use according to the type of work. It is a cloud-free processing data, displaying data per pixel and ready to be conveniently applied with Geographic Information System (GIS) for 30 days continuously and can be traced back up to 5 years.
However, Varuna's services include three levels of satellite image processing technology:
1. Sensor Data Records (SDR)
2. Environmental Data Records (EDR)
3. Application Data Records (ADR)
Sensor Data Records (SDR)
Satellite imaging service and measurement data collection from the satellite sensor system that has been adjusted for accuracy of the coordinate system, image balance, including adjustments with technology that supports cloud-free images.
Images to choose from a variety of image data, for example:
- False color composite images to be used to classify crop on the survey area (Crop Classification).
- Natural color images (True Color)
- RGB color images for analysis and monitoring of spatial changes according to objectives of study.
Service Area
The data processing service area of Sentinel satellites covers every region of Thailand in all data layers that are required by customers.The data from processing service to remove cloud cover is available daily, bi-weekly, and monthly at resolution of 10x10 meters and 20x20 meters. In ASEAN region (Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam), only specific data services are provided such as SDR (Sensor Data Records) and EDR (Environmental Data Records).
